Rotary Dinner for the elderly
On Wednesday May 22nd 2019 the boarders took part in our big annual community event at the Spotlight Centre in Broxbourne.
The Rotarians provide transport, food and entertainment for approximately 500 elderly guests in the local community. These are often from care homes or are isolated people with little access to the outside world. So for some guests this is a big night out for them and it means a lot to them.
Our boarders give up their own time, as well as care and education staff, to support this event. The boarders and staff arrived and met the guests off the buses or cars and escorted them to their tables.
This was followed by serving them drinks as well as platters of food, desserts alongside tea and coffee. It as always is a very hard night’s work, with boarders and staff relentlessly supporting and helping the guests to make the night memorable. They were very complimentary about the boys’ help and their polite and helpful attitude.
The Head of the Rotary pulled all the boys onto the stage to personally thank them, which was also met with a big round of applause from everyone.
A big thank you to the boys and all staff that helped. It is appreciated by all.
